Everything You Need to Know to Get Started with SwimIntel as a College Coach

Introduction
SwimIntel gives you the tools you need to analyze past performance and predict future results. This guide will take you through the basics of using SwimIntel for college team analytics, club-to-college analytics, and analyzing recruits with predictive AI.
To create a free SwimIntel account (Recruiter tier), request an invitation at https://swimintel.com/contact_college_coaches/. An invitation link will then be sent to your school email account. Recruit information is only shared with verified college coaches which is why an invitation is required to join this tier.
To create a paid SwimIntel account via credit card (Coach tier), go to https://swimintel.com/register/coach/. Fill out the required information and click the “Sign Up” button at the bottom of the screen to complete registration. If paying by ACH or other means, contact support@swimintel.com for assistance.
You now have a SwimIntel account. For the Coach tier, your entire staff will receive individual accounts, all linked to your base coaching staff account. To add or remove individual account access, contact support@swimintel.com.
Find Recruits
High school recruits can be found by name, class, gender, club, state, etc. by going to https://app.swimintel.ai/. Using the filter bar at the top will allow you to set basic filters (gender, class, state) as well as quickly search for a recruit by name or by club. Results will be returned in order of recruit rank. This allows you to easily see rankings by state or overall.
To find recruits by event/time, go to https://app.swimintel.ai/app/recruits/times or click on the “Event Rankings” link in the side toolbar. In addition to class, gender, and state filters, you will also filter by specific events and even min/max times. For example, you can search for 57.0 to 58.0 100Y BK times for female class of 2027.
Student-Athlete Profiles
Click on a recruit’s name to open their student-athlete profile. Not only will you find basic information about a recruit such as contact info, academics, times, etc. but you also have quick access to several data analysis tools to assist you in your research. Clicking on the club name will bring up their club’s analytics (how current college swimmers from that club have progressed in college). Clicking on the Impact Rating will bring up the rating calculation details (three best events/times). Clicking on the badges will show you that athlete’s achieved cuts in Sectionals, Futures, Winter Juniors, Summer Juniors, US Open, and US Nationals.
Below the student-athlete profile header, a set of buttons give you access to more information and additional data analysis apps. Favorite: Clicking this button favorites a swimmer. This allows you to filter by “favorites” in the recruit rankings and event rankings. This also sends a notification to the swimmer that you have favorited them. Share: This will copy a shareable URL for that profile. Contact Info: This will display contact information for a swimmer if they have chosen to share it with college coaches. Email, cell phone, and Instagram username. This information is only viewable by college coaches. Academics: This will display GPA, unweighted GPA, ACT, SAT, and intended major. This information is only viewable by college coaches. Best Times: This will give you a summary of all best times for every event for that recruit and compare each time with last year’s conference A-final and B-final cut (8th place prelims / 16th place prelims). This lets you know where an athlete is currently at in their development. PredictAI™: This will run the SwimIntel predictive AI model on all events for this athlete and compare each predicted time with last year’s conference A-final and B-final cut. This lets you know how PredictAI™ thinks an athlete will develop by the end of college.
Best Times vs Conference Times
Clicking on the “Best Times” button within a student-athlete’s profile will not only show their best times but also a quick comparison to your conference’s A-final and B-final cut times last season. 🟢 indicates that a current time is at or faster than last year’s cut. 🔴 indicates that a current time is slower than last year’s cut.
PredictAI™ App
The SwimIntel PredictAI™ app predicts the future performance of a recruit using a sophisticated predictive AI model trained on data from 15,000+ college swimmers originating from 2,500+ clubs. The PredictAI™ app can be access within each student-athlete profile by clicking on the PredictAI™ button under the profile header. Using the app is easy. Best times and club will auto-populate from the athlete’s profile. The Underperform/Overperform slider is used to modify the predicted performance based on coach’s discretion. For example, if a coach believes a particular recruit has more potential than the model predicts, the Overperform slider can be set to the right (+) to one of four levels. *Note: Events and times can only be short course yards for the AI model.
Click the “Calculate Predictions” button to generate college time predictions for every event. The resulting output will not only display predicted times but also compare each time to conference championship A-final and B-final cut time for last season’s championship meet. A 🟢 symbol will be displayed for predicted times that are at or better than A/B-final cut times.
Club-to-College Analytics
Club-to-college analytics shows you how swimmers from specific clubs improve/progress in college and can be accessed by clicking on the club name in a student-athlete’s profile header.. The data at the top of an analytics table shows the average improvement of all swimmers from a club (by gender) from their high school best times through freshman year of college and through all of college. The top two events for each individual swimmer are displayed in the bottom table and used for the improvement calculations.
A breakdown of how many swimmers from this club swam D1, D2, and D3 is shown in the pie chart under the improvement averages. A histogram of event specialties from swimmers in this club is shown in the Event Distribution chart. This can give you an indiciation of what specialities (if any) a club produces more of than others (e.g. freestyle sprint, mid-distance, …).
Favorite Swimmers
Within any student-athlete profile, you can favorite that swimmer by clicking on the Favorite button underneath the profile header. This will allow you to quickly filter on all favorites in the recruit and event rankings lists by checking the “Only Favorites” checkbox in the filter at the top of each list. This can be combined with any other filter (e.g. show only my favorites for class of 2028 females).
Note: Favoriting a swimmer will give them a notification that you favorited them. Simply viewing a student-athletes produces no such notification.
Recruit Intel Reports
Recruit Intel Reports provide college coaches with up-to-date insights on high school swimmers who are rapidly improving. Each report highlights athletes with significant time drops, ranking changes, and event-specific progress. Coaches can quickly identify swimmers trending upward in their primary events or those who have recently earned a ⭐️ ranking upgrade. These reports are extensive and cover analysis across all levels of athletes, from rising 2⭐️ prospects to elite 5⭐️ recruits.
College / Conference List
All colleges and conferences tracked in the SwimIntel database can be found by clicking on the Colleges link in the toolbar. You can filter the conference view by Division I, Division II, Division III, or by individual conference by using the top left dropdown menu. You can search for an individual college or conference by using the search bar in the top toolbar. Different profiles are provided for men’s and women’s programs. All Division I conferences and colleges are tracked by SwimIntel. Select Division II and III conferences and colleges are tracked (but that number is growing!).
College Profiles
Each college profile contains extensive information about both the college and team including conference championship times, conference performance, academic requirements, Freshman to Sophomore retention, roster demographics, website, social handles, cost of attendance, coaching staff, and more. Information in your team’s profile can be updated by request by contacting support@swimintel.com.
Team Performance
Clicking on more details in a college profile’s Swimmer Improvement section will take you to the team performance page. Here you can see how well a coaching staff/college team progresses swimmers from their high school best times. The Freshman improvement data shows the average improvement of all swimmers on the team from their high school best times for their top two events to their Freshman times. This will give you a general idea of how well student-athletes acclimate to that school’s/team’s environment during their Freshman year. The Junior/Senior improvement data shows the average improvement of Junior/Senior swimmers on the team from their high school best times for their top two events to their best college times. This will give you a general idea of how well the coaching staff progresses their swimmers through their college careers.
The min/max/avg improvement data for all Division I programs is shown on the top graph for reference (even if analyzing a Division II or III team). Current swimmer progression details can also be seen in the table. Only the top two events for each swimmer are shown as this is the likely training focus of those swimmers. More detailed information about how SwimIntel metrics are generated can be found at https://swimintel.com/analyzing-colleges/. Missing data, roster corrections, etc. in your team’s swimmer improvement section can be updated by request by contacting support@swimintel.com.
Conference Profiles
Each conference profile contains statistics, analysis, and information about the conference and colleges within the conference. Conference championship times, conference championships rankings, Freshman improvement rankings, Junior/Senior improvement rankings, active swimmers, average team size, and more can be found for each conference.
Favorite Colleges/Conferences
You can bookmark colleges and conferences that are interesting to you by clicking on the star icon beside the college/conference name in its profile. All favorites are listed and linked at User -> Favorites. Clicking on the college/conference logo will take you to that school’s profile. You can unfavorite a college/conference by clicking on the star icon of an already favorited school/conference.
Top 25
The Top 25 pages list the most recent team rankings from the CSCAA Coaches Poll for men’s and women’s D1, D2, and D3 swimming. Each college listed is linked to its SwimIntel profile to make it easy to research that team. Each Top 25 ranking is linked from the top toolbar.
Knowledge Base
The SwimIntel Knowledge Base contains a growing number of articles to explain each step of the college swimming recruiting process as well as answer many commonly asked questions. These articles are great tools to know what to do and when to do it. The Knowledge Base is linked from the top toolbar and can be accessed directly at https://swimintel.com/knowledge-base/.

The What’s New page lists all of the new feature updates at SwimIntel. From additional colleges/conferences tracked in our database to major new features to Best Fit Report generation/school profiles, you can see how SwimIntel is constantly improving.
